Lower Columbia has a rich history of Simlympic participation. The kingdom first participated at the Simlympics in December 2006, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Simlympic Games since then, except for the August 2008 Simlympics. Lower Columbia has also participated in every Winter Simlympic Games since February 2009. The Lower Columbian city of Nyhaven hosted the June 2007 Simlympics, known within Lower Columbia as the 1980 Simlympics.
Lower Columbian athletes have historically been among the winningest athletes to compete in the Simlympics. They have accumulated a total of 81 Simlympic medals in a wide variety of events covering 25 different sports, with track and field athletes contributing the most medals of any one sport (20 total). Lower Columbia won the most medals in two Simlympiads, the December 2006 and June 2007 Games.
The National Simlympic Committee for Lower Columbia is the Lower Columbian Simlympic Committee, and was founded in 2006. The LCSC contributed heavily to Nyhaven's two Simlympic bids.
